I was in Marblehead this weekend, visiting my family. My sister and I went for a walk and I took some photos. Here’s a cove near my mom’s house that I photographed last summer at low tide:
This is what it looked like yesterday at high tide:
We walked through the streets of old town, through the warm fog, and found ourselves at Fort Sewell, which is at the edge of town – at the edge of the continent, really. Then there was no place to turn but back home.
I’ve watched Slumdog Millionaire twice and will probably watch it again tonight or tomorrow. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, GO!
Thanks for the lovely photos, Ann. Living on the east coast as you do, you are probably somewhat used to the mind-boggling fact that you can literally stand on the edge of the continent. For a Midwest dweller like myself, it’s a discombobulating thought. Photos of New York City or Miami taken from the water create the illusion that those cities should completely sink into the water.
I don’t know anything about the movie “Slumdog Millionaire”, but will now go to blockbuster.com and check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.
Beautiful pics Ann!
Saw “Slumdog Millionaire” this week. Amazing movie! I really liked it. We have a screener here and will probably re-watch it too! We just got home from “The Wrestler”. Have you seen it? Mickey Rouke’s performance is outstanding! I can’t stop thinking about it.
On another note, have you or any of the other people on here ever experienced their dog having a stroke? I believe our Shanti, just had a mini stroke after I gave him a bath. The vet said to watch him and if anything happens again, bring him in. He’s acting back to his normal self, playing tug ‘o war and such, but it’s really unsettling. I’ll probably take him to the vet in the morning to make sure. Anyway…just thought I would ask.
Thanks.
It sounds like Shanti might have had a seizure of some type Courtney. Our Pongo had them every now and then for years. I mean ten years. He would have these fits and the five minutes later would be running around like nothing happened. Take him to the vet when you can. Ours said they’re worse for the people watching than the dog. They don’t seem to remember what happened. Started watching the Wrestler the other night but fell asleep, not because of the movie, just tired.
You’ll have to go see Slumdog at the movies, Elizabeth, it’s not on DVD yet. You’ll be glad you did. Very uplifting film.
Thanks so much Ann. After talking with a couple people, it does sound like a seizure. I’ll take him to our regular vet next week, (our vet is out of town this week) unless it happens again, then I’ll take him in asap to the vet covering.
Very scary indeed. I’m glad to hear it is worse for us, the owners, than for them.
Thanks so much again, makes us feel better hearing of others who have had a similar experience.
Lovely pictures! I hope you enjoyed your family time.
I haven’t seen that movie yet, but I hear really good things about it from others as well.
Hi Ann,
Sorry we missed you while you were in Marblehead..and I hope you had a great holiday….and perhap when things aren’t so busy you can trek on up here to Essex for a look around. Hope the book is going well. Many folks in my family got Why We Suck for Christmas…but they were told “don’t shout out the title when you first open the gift”…cause of those kiddies around.. Funny!! Best to you, Laurie
