Dog Day Blog

I have quite a few things going on right now and have been up since 4:30 working. As a result, I have little blog time. So, I’ve resorted, for subject matter, to my old standby. Our dogs.

Our dogs love, more than anything else, to travel. They don’t care where they’re going, they just like to go. Here’s Lulu enjoying a ride to the vet.

Here she is coming home, recovering from the trauma of vaccinations:

If I’m going someplace, the dogs often manage to jump in the car. Then, if I’m not planning to bring them, I will call them out. They ignore me and stare straight ahead.

They become, suddenly deaf. They just stare at the windshield. “We’re ready,” they’re saying. “Let’s go.” Then I must drag them out of the car.

Now I must get back to work. Will report later about all the exciting goings-on.

  1. Dogs – adorable!
    : )

  2. Love the dogs. Boy, that must have been some trip to the vet by the looks of those pictures.

  3. I love the dogs ! Anxious to hear the exciting goings-on. Glad you are feeling better!
Now let me score some Brownie Points and copy Elle. I really think you look like Raquel Welsh when she was young. I really do . I always thought she was a beautiful woman but you have beauty and brains!

  4. Yay, Dog Blog Day! So cute!!!!
The “stare ahead, deaf tactic” must be universal for all dogs. Our shanti, will do that, and to get his attention, after many failed attempts, “Cookie!” Boom! That snaps him right out it! lol!
Ceasar Milan probably wouldn’t approve of this, but it works! :)

  5. Our 5 year old weimaraner is the exact same way! That sweet girl would live in our car! She wants to go everywhere we go, and she’ll just lounge/sleep in the car and wait until we are ready to leave (we have one of those key pads on the vehicle door, so I can leave it running and it can be locked – we live in a small town).
“They suddeny become deaf.” LOL! That’s so true!!

I love the puppy pics.True blue members of your family.
I got Dr. Leary’s book for my birthday yesterday. I just started it The dedication is so sweet, the rest so funny and true!

  7. Mary Lauth says:

Looks like they are watching 1001 Dalmations from the back seat of the car.. totally engaged How Funny

  8. aww your sweet to share being so busy. you know we all stalk your blog waiting for a new entry. thanks for thinking of us :)

  9. If my friend’s dog manages to get in the car when he’s not supposed to, the only way she can get him out is to drive around the block!!

  10. Oh I like this topic! Your dogs are so funny, Ann! I love when they are so clingy. They want to come with you, doesn’t matter where. My Danes act like that, too. When I have to go out, they run towards the car like mad and run over me to reach the vehicle as first. Maybe they think I couldn’t say “No” if they arrive soon… Really a funny behavior! I have a soft spot for Giant Breeds, they act like human beings, think to be one of us because of their size. For example, my Danes sit down on chairs with their buttocks just like us :-) Dogs are so intelligent, they only lack speech!

  11. I was feeling the adrenaline rush of the hunt and flew through the house like a madwoman. (page 190)
Just finished the book and LOVED it!
    Elle

  12. Courtney, my dogs must be related to yours!! “Cookie” is the most magical word in my house….great pictures and stories that all of us who are dog owners can somehow relate to and appreciate.

  13. Its funny how dogs seem almost human like…Your dogs are so funny….
I had to resort to spelling certain words, like cookie for one or Cindi would go crazy….
I am so familiar with the way they look the other way and pretend you aren’t there…
Sometimes I think Cindi liked to hear me say her name over and over…When she didn’t want to go out or not leave my room when I went to work, she would lay down because she knew I couldn’t lift a 125 lb Rottweiler, I am not all that big myself….
Thank you for sharing the pics, I needed to laugh today….

  14. I just love your dogs! I’ve got a saint and a golden. Both so unique and funny. We have to spell ‘v-e-t’. Otherwise, no one gets into the car. lol
btw, congrats on the whole Oprah thing!
