As my faithful blog readers can attest, visiting this site each day can be like watching grass grow. I just don’t do a lot of exciting stuff, especially when I’m working on a book, as I have been doing. But this week has been action packed.
Today, we had a photo shoot here at our home because Denis and I, along with Daphne, Coco and Lulu will be gracing the cover of American Dog Magazine this spring! That’s right, the cover of American Dog Magazine.
Gonna see my picture on the cover/ Gonna send five copies to my mother/ Gonna see my smiling face on the cover of American Dog!
It’s this very cool new dog/lifestyle mag. Heather Green is a great photographer and took some amazing shots. My friend Leah took some shots of the photo shoot.
Here are the publisher and NY Post columnist Julia Szabo, Heather Green and stylist Lena An setting up the shot in our living room:
And here are two humans and three dogs trying to look good at once:
The dogs were very put out by the whole thing. I was surprised by their lack of enthusiasm. It seemed to be their nap time and we spent a lot of time jostling them into standing and sitting positions. I saw some of the shots Heather took and they looked very nice – no offense Leah!
None taken! What a fun morning!
Wow, it seems you are all enjoying yourselves! It has been a nice adventure. It’s nice you both love dogs so much and you are going on the cover of American Dog Magazine!
Gotta love the dogs!
:)
Coco looks like a parrot sitting on Denis’s arm! Like that is something she does all the time
Lulu can’t decide which is her best pose and Daphne just wants to nap!
Oh – the people look great too!
Oh Ann, I will have that song in my head now all night, and am SO excited for you all! (Truly, for the dog lovin’ woman that you are I have to assume that is far superior to being on the cover of Time or Newsweek!)
Do let us know when it hits the stands…and congrats! You all — two-legged and four-legged — look fabulous!
Coco does look quite comfortable sitting on Denis’s arm. She is obviously a lap/cuddle dog, right? Daphne and Lulu do look a little put out, but maintaining their usual grace while exhibiting distain for all the human shenanigans. Please be sure to let us all know in what month of American Dog Magazine these photos and article will be published.
I was quite surprised that Lulu was never sitting next to Denis. Considering her besottedness (is this a word??) with Denis, one would expect her to be guarding her master with due diligence. Maybe she just likes to spread the wealth around?
By the way, your living room appears to be a place where I could spend hours either browsing your bookcases or curled up on a sofa reading one of said books. You and Denis have inpeccable taste and decorating sense.
I just took a closer look at the photos and realize that Lulu was always touching or being touched by Denis. I feel better now.
awwww i love dog days
Does it get any better than this.. wow, what a great turn of events for you Ann. I loved you on Oprah, you were just so spot on talking to her. And what a nice touch that Denis sent her orchids and roses. Kindness abounds in the Leary family. Looking forward to Monday night’s webcast.
Ann: I look forward to seeing you guys in the magazine. I have the first issue which featured a very close friend of mine whom I do some work for; Susan Marino from Angels Gate sanctuary from Delhi, NY actually was featured in the first issue. Its the one with Ellen DeGeneres on it. They did a very nice spread on many of her hospice animals. Thanks for showing these shots.
Congrats all the way around … what a week! Oprah? Check. Magazine cover shoot? Check. Rockin’ some seriously cool boots? Check.
Kim – thanks for the heads up about Angels Gate sanctuary. I’m going to check it out.
Sorry Ann – I am going to sedgeway a little – Lisa, thank you and please do check out Angels Gate Hospice Sanctuary (www.angelsgate.org)for “ALL” abandoned, abused, deformed and terminally ill animals. Susan Marino is the founder of this wonderful haven and she is hands on with each and every one of these animals she cares for. She’s my second sister. Check out the beautiful site and give what you can, if you can for these unfortunate animals that have had a rough life from nearly day one. We just mailed out the new calendars for 09 – purchase one if you can to help with the care and maintenance of our furry friends. Ann – Susan was on Oprah about 5 months ago and I cannot tell you how generous Oprah’s donation was. It floored all of us. The bulk of donations come from people all over the world. Those $1, $5, $20 donations mean SO SO much and it is soley what Angels Gate depends on.
Thank you for the floor!
Oh my,the look on those dog’s faces – priceless.
I really got a chuckle out of them, they look so worried!
: )
What a great week you’ve had!!! That is so cool! Congrats! The pics are so cute! Love dog days!
Going to check out American Dog Magazine as soon as I can. And I agree with Lisa, Rockin’ boots!!!
How wonderful for you, you are on a roll. thanks for always sharing, it is so very interesting to see all this behind the screens stuff.
p.s. what is the update on the barn cat hunt, just to acknowledge cats.
Very neat things going on for you! Wonderful about being on the cover of American Dog. I bet trying to do a photo shoot with the dogs was a little tough though.
Awww, that is so sweet!!!!! I love it!!!
I am sure trying to get everyone to look at the camera in sync, was a pretty tough accomplishment….
Not to mention alot of laughs…:)
Oh, how this made my Monday morning!
I will have a smile on my face the rest of the day thinking about Daphne, Coco and Lulu.
Thank you so much for sharing.
Sorry to hijack the blog, Ann. Just wanted Kim to know that Angels Gate looks great …. sent a donation. Thanks for all you do!
That is all very cool, but I just can’t take my eyes off your boots. They are distractingly cool! I have some serious shoe envy going on here.
