Sarah was on the right track. The camera had fallen in between the seats of my car, not my truck. Found it today. Now will bombard you with photos.
His Excellence:
You can see what a shorty he is when Lulu is near:
We went to Steep Rock today. Look how pleased he is to be getting out. I just adore this horse – not sure if I’ve mentioned that before. Look at that eye.
Will blog later about the characters we met there. Now I’m getting ready to go to The Soloist. I think that’s the name. Robert Downey, Jr., Jamie Fox?
Had so much fun with yesterday’s Q&A. Caroline had the great idea of finding out whether the Man of the Blog is single, and if so, fixing him up with one of the many women who are commenters here. I know several other men who read this blog, ALL single, who don’t comment. I’m literally frothing at the mouth with excitement! This could become a dating blog!
Oh, here’s one final photo. I was taking this shot of Gabriel who was quite jealous that I was allowing Mark to graze on our lawn. When I loaded the photo onto the computer, I saw that we had a little visitor. Can you see her? In the upper left hand corner?
Alright, I can’t figure out how to zoom and have already deleted it from camera. It was a young doe, grazing next to the horse field. Very cute.
Great pictures. It looks like you had a beautiful day today.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Glad you found your camera because those shots are just lovely! You’re making me want to go out and get a horse.
love the pics, just came in from working in my yard, so ready for spring. I would like to know where the man of the blog hails from? Please name your state.
Candy, I live in Connecticut, a stone’s throw (okay, a very LONG stone’s throw – about 45 miles) from the Learys.
Great photos, Ann! The sunshine, the gorgeous horses, and the incredible landscape. I couldn’t tell what the animal in the upper left-hand corner of the last photo was, so thanks for identifying it as a young doe. We feed the animals in our little corner of the country–deer, squirrels, raccoons, oppossum, our barn cats (natch!), geese, and ducks. It’s very satisfying to see these animals out our windows. (But it would be enchanting to see Snoopy peeking in our windows. Our invitation for a free trip to Indiana still holds, Snoopy, if you’re interested….)
That photo of Mark looking out of his trailer was regal!! Quite a handsome fellow.
I would be interested in your opinion of “The Soloist”. I enjoy Robert Downey Jr.’s work very much and find myself completely completely taken in by his characters.
Ann
Glad you found your camera. The pics are beautiful. Yesterday’s blog was great. I’ve looked at the the last photo, can’t find the doe. Looked for my glasses, can’t find those either! Hope you enjoyed the movie. Supposed to be gorgeous today, work in the garden, then watch the game. Have a great weekend.
Ann,
Good Morning. Beautiful day….Anyway NY Post, Page 6, had a blurb on Denis’ poem and essay from 1977. Haven’t had a chance to look at it yet.
Have to agree with Elizabeth Love R.D.Jr he is an extrodenary actor,Kevin Spacey do anything kinda guy.SOOO glad you found the camera and just in time I love nature threw your eyes(camera) I wish Alan the best of luck to far to chase for me so if ya have one in the south eastern Ontario canada area lol I’ll be glad to play “Leary Love” if anyone can do it and like all yesturday was great got to know so much about everyone along with some leary triva
Okay, Alan – now I’m more intrigued…. we need more details about you! My best pal is single, in Fairfield County and a great catch (I know we all say that about our friends, but she REALLY is!!). Sorry to hijack the blog, Ann!
So glad you found your camera Ann. I hate it when I misplace something and have to try and find it (grrr). My favorite photo is the one of Lulu and Mark…how sweet! And the scenery is always so beautiful. I can see the doe, but barely. Thanks for pointing her out
Like Elizabeth, I was also wondering what you thought of the soloist? It looks like a good story and I think Downey and Foxx are great actors when they’re in the right roles.
Forgot to mention that I’m dogsitting my brother’s German Shepherd this weekend and the poor dog is having separation anxiety issues. It’s interesting to see how my 2 Golden’s interact with him. They will let my brother’s dog drink out of their water bowls, play with their toys, etc. while at our house. When I was at my brother’s, his dog was very territorial and did not want my 2 Golden’s touching any of his stuff. Yet I am amazed at how my brother’s dog listens to everything I say, very well behaved, while my own dogs pretend to go deaf!
Thanks as always for the inspiration, Ann, as we bloggers head out to our respective gardens for the day. Can’t wait to play in the dirt.
I am in a citified suburb instead of the beautiful country, but nonetheless have seen turkeys, deer, lots of bunnies and a fox so far this spring.
Paula
Great photos Ann. What does it take for me to get a hoofed autograph of that hunk Mark? :::)))) “He’s too sexy for this blog, too sexy for this blog” as the song goes.
Now when I see the name I gave your love connection I think”The Leary Love Lounge” may have a wee bit of a better ring lol
Jane: I have 3 German Shepherds – and yes, depending upon who and how much you really, really mean it………..their hearing is selective. I always threaten euthanasia or severe beatings – but they just yawn. I look at them like “what am I wood?”
Thanks Rose, I hadn’t heard about the New York Post piece. Here’s a link:

It reports on how Denis had a poem published in the literary publication PLOUGHSHARES, while he was still in college. I will locate it and feature it on my blog soon.
For those who asked, The Soloist was good. Not entirely great, but Robert Downey, Jr was amazing as always.
While we’ve never met, you might be one of the few people I’d allow to fix me up. Any “m’Ann” readers in Cali?
Wow, Kim…3! May I ask what you feed yours? My brother’s shepherd has a very very sensitive stomach and after much trial and error he finally found one brand of dog food that his dog can tolerate. But man they are so smart; I swear this one is mentally communicating with us. When we say something to him, he looks us directly in the eyes and will tilt his head right and then left like he’s mentally deciphering what we’re saying to him. (I really should take him for a walk around here just to see what reactions I would get from some of the punks down the street…hee, hee.)
cheryl, I like that, the Leary Love Lounge! But what would the theme song be? Marvin Gaye “Let’s Get It On”, Led Zep “Whole Lotta Love” (take me, Robert, you big strong Viking hero you, take me now! lol), Etta James “At Last”…so many to choose from
Thanks Ann for your thoughts on The Soloist! I’m not surprised to hear that Robert Downey Jr. was great in it. He is quite a talented actor and I’m so glad he was able to turn himself around and get back on the right path.
I’d also love to read the poem that Denis wrote and had published in PLOUGHSHARES back in 1977. That must have been such a neat experience for him to see his poem published in a literary journal
Jane: yes, they are very very intelligent. They are always running and playing but I do what I can to keep their brains stimulated and challenge them as much as I can. All my dogs are on the raw diet. I purchase 5 pound tubes of meat and chicken ground and mixed with vegtables from a K-9 butcher. I do not cook the meat. I buy enough to last me a month. I add supplements, more vegetables and fruit. I do that for 5 days and I give them a break in which they get carbs like potatoes, sweet potatoes, oats, – I add a lot of healthy stuff. The enzymes in the meat keep their teeth tartar free, its not likely they will get bloat on the diet and their poop are rather small. No kibble at all. Its cheaper and healthier this way. Besides, they love it. It sounds like a lot of work but its not at all. I actually have fun with it. I probably gave you more information than you asked for. Needless to say, they are wonderful dogs.
Thankyou Kim! I appreciate all of the detail you provided and will share it with my brother. I think that’s pretty cool about the K-9 butcher…I had no idea they even existed! I know a couple of people who have their dogs on a raw food diet and are very pleased with the results. One of them has offered to share their tips with me (they also have Golden’s like myself) next weekend when we meet up. I feed mine Solid Gold Lamb and Wellness Fish.
“Leary Love Lounge” cracks me up! I would love to see that the “m Ann” get fixed up with the single women! LOVE this blog Ann! Always interesting and fun!
Thanks for the feedback on “The Soloist.” What concerned me about it was the TRILLION different versions of trailers I have been seeing. Love Robert Downey Jr., so most likely will go see it.
Glad your back out on Mark in the beautiful place you live! Enjoy!
Happy Spring!
Life is good!
PS: Thanks to those who contacted me about Laura Ling and Euna Lee, the reporters being held in a North Korean prison. Lisa Ling emailed us, who are supporting them, via facebook and said a heartfelt thanks and because of the sensitivity of the case, the families must remain quiet. So thank you for getting involved with me for them.
Courtney, thanks for bring the plight of Laura Ling and Euna Lee to our attention.
And Kim, I’m pretty interested in this raw diet for your dogs. So they eat the potatoes and oats raw too? Interesting about how the enzymes from the raw meat keeps their teeth clean. We don’t even have a regular butcher around her, let alone a canine butcher. My guys get kibble and scraps from the table.
Good morning!
I have not read “Vast Hell” yet. “Lady Chaterly’s Lover” is a treat of a book. Read it a long time ago. At the time I read it, I realized that people felt those ways before, and it was news to me!. I was convinced that ‘we’ were the enlightened ones. Latter, I took a class on Human Sexuality at SFSU, and OMG….the Professor blew us away with ‘directions’ to movies, books, images of what peoples have done and felt all along. One of the funnier things were the graffiti found at Pompei and Herculeanum, written in Latin!. Maybe I will gather and post!.
Alan, I wonder if you realize that people who are NUTS, do not have the ability to see that in themselves.. you kinda have to take a chance. And yeap, it is a scarey thing to give email addresses to bloggers at Ann’s!. I mean, read the stuff..
The romance languages – in this case Italian and Spanish – are very similar. Yet, the nuances are not there, unless you are proficient. And that means different things for different people, claro (of course).
I chopped my hair off!. I need a hat!. But I got rid of the slimy elastic mess I had on my top. Now, adjusting time.
Without intent to nag Ann, I think some ‘effort’ should be made for that pilot at RM with you in it. The bit about Lucy Ricardo? He was LAME. It was a god’s send that SHE thought otherwise. I would have turned OFF from the emotion at ‘take two’ of his behaviour. There is NO correlation, whatsoever.
I love that you love your Mark so much! He should meet my Norman, a rescue horse I got in January after many horseless years. He’s an older Saddlebred and a bit of a crabby appleton to others, but not to me – don’t they mean so much? I can’t wait to keep reading on . . . your photos are beautiful!
