Okay, the long-awaited Julie Klam, YOU HAD ME AT WOOF book trailer is now on YouTube.
I feel that, as the director, I should make a little speech. First, I’d like to thank my son Jack Leary who shot the only footage that isn’t shaky. Also, of course, the stars, Julie, Susan and Denis. Paul Leo, Julie’s husband also shot some stuff that wasn’t shaking.
A word about the heavy breathing and laughing that went along with some of the shaky footage. This was intentional. It is an homage to early video-noir camera work so popular in Italian snuff films in the 1940s. I know all you film buffs will understand what we were doing, but just wanted to clarify for everybody else.
Well, enough, let’s not let the excitement build for another minute. I’m not embedding it on the blog because I discovered that it cut the screen in half. Anyway, I present:
Genius! A power beyond my understanding is willing me to make a Starbucks run and hit the bookstore on my way back. Job well done. (Seriously, so funny!)
Ok, this video was made all the more hilars because of you chuckling and guffawing in the background….don’t think we can’t hear you! Seriously, it adds to it.
Susan Orlean and Ivy need to take their act on the road. Luuuuurve them.
DL and Gomer are a great pair! I hope you are building an ark big enough for the dogs and horses…looks like there’s a monsoon coming.
Gloria: YAY. So happy to hear you’re on the other side of surgery and on the mend. Thinking of you!
LOVE IT–
I can’t wait to buy the book!
My deep appreciation to KC, Catherine, Ann, Andrea, and any
I am too groogy to forget. I quit being a martyr and took a pain pill. I feel much better but drowzy. As a teenager, I was much too reserved to have a celebrity sign any body part. Now I will live it up. If I run into say, George Clooney or Liam Neeson, I will ask for their signatures.
The video was fab!
Gloria
Very fun! I see that your earlier work (Ghost Girl, for example) has been great training for this film. Who needs the USC film school?
And Gomer has a seriously long tongue!
Hi Gloria! So good to hear from you!
So, so funny. My favorite line – “I don’t have a lot of blood in my hand.”
I absolutely loved the video. Love Julie Klam’s sense of humor. Love Susan’s sense of humor. And the piece de resistance – Denis Leary – the “celebrity”, and that terribly mischievous, Gomer, at least compared to Julie’s perfectly-behaved brood.
It’s just so damn funny. It’s goin’ viral, I tell ya, goin’ viral.
I see Holly and Daphne make the cut but Gomer and Lulu look fab.
Candy, Daphne has a little cameo appearance. Very brief. I wonder where Holly was?
Ann, this is hilarious. You know the book will be a big success…..I love the title! Hope there will be a full-length version and you will have a role in it. So glad that Gloria blogged. We were thinking of you!
Was that a tampon in her dog’s mouth? Hysterical.
Ann-It’s terrific!!!!Bravo you!!!!
And Gloria-YAY you!!!My friend had a surgeon “autograph” her knee the same way! SO glad you’re back and SO proud of you! Please keep the updates coming, okay?
Leah, that’s so funny, you must own a Golden. I knew somebody would think that. NO! It’s one of those rubber bones
I’m in bed laughing at this wonderful video trailer, and the husband walks in and wants to see it. Now he too is laughing. This is entertaining, and I appreciate being entertained, no matter if I’m at a dinner party, church, or dinner with my son!!
Great job Ann and Julie!! And we must not leave out the camera guy, which I believe was Mr. Leary Jr.
This was really funny, and clever. Can’t wait for the book to come out!
Too funny! Denis and Gomer appear to be a near-perfect match of man and dog.
Denis and Gomer appear to be a near-perfect match of man and dog.
(Apologies for the message burp….)
Leah i thought it was a tampon at first too!! Then I finally clicked it was a dog bone hahaha!!!
Great Job Ann and everyone else…. Gomer look soooooooooo cute!
Gloria.. thinking of you x
Too funny! My favorite part was how the dog should greet you at the door with enthusiasm. My dog does that in spades! It used to make me want to ring his neck but now I’ll praise him!
It’s been a while since I have seen anything from Mary Lynn on this blog, but I thought of her this morning when I heard the sad news that Tony Curtis has died. I know how fond of him she is. So, Mary Lynn, if you still check in, I just want you to know I’m thinking of you today, and sending my condolences.
I LOVE Gomer! If Mark were a dog, he’d be Gomer. High 5 to everyone who worked on the video.
I just re-watched (yet again). You couldn’t write better one liners:
guilt training
you might want to consider exchanging her
I think that’s one of my dogs…Sassy…
I’m not insured
Love it!
Catherine, you have no idea the zingers that Julie and Susan came up with. Totally on the spot and deadpan. I was laughing so hard the day of the Susan shoot that I really did mess up the funniest parts. They are HILARIOUS.
God I love zingers! When will the DVD specials with the outtakes be released? HA!
Hilarious Ann. I was laughing hysterically! Can’t wait to read the book.
I think my favorite part was with Denis and the gorgeous Gomer. ‘Can you do something about the tongue hanging out on the side?’ ‘What, you don’t like the tongue?’ ‘It kind of destroys the profile’ ROTFLMAO
Can’t wait for your next directing job.
