Ok- Since I watch and look at all of these videos/photos I need to know the names of your animals. I know Gomer is the BIG dog. Other than that I need help
Yes, Daphne’s a doodle, Holly, the little terrier is a Heinz 57 variety mutt, our Lulu wasn’t in video for some reason but she’s a ST. Bernard/Airedale. Gomer is a Leonberger. Black horse is Snoopy, chestnut (red) is Gabriel and the guy with the oversized blanket is my beloved Mark
Did you have four horses at one time? I thought read you have 4 horses, and 4 dogs? By the way the names are adorable. Especially LuLu Was one of them used in Rescue me with Denis?
I forgot to ask how old each of them are or does that make you too sad? Mark must be the one you compete with. He IS a beauty. Do they gain weight in the winter like us? I bet your EMT training helps with all of your animals or rather hopefully something you don’t have to use but can if you need to.
Well, if all that isn’t the epitome of HAPPINESS on a winter day, I don’t know what is. Love it! Wonderful Daphne, Gomer, Holly (Holly!! oh, my, almost unbearably cute!), Gabriel and Snoopy … and Mark, what a sweetie, all in your pocket — it’s simply too much! The music is charming, too.
Snoopy was meant to be photographed in snow, btw! He looks so cuddly and gorgeous! And the quick shot of Holly by the barn door is perhaps my favorite part.
Oh, drat! I thought you’d shot a video of your dogs and horses playing hockey. In any event, it looks like humans and animals alike had a good time playing outside in the snow and on the ice.
Fun video… I love Mark’s eyelashes… and he is a ham and loves the attention. Love Holly of course, and Daphne getting snow stuck to her face. Nice video, really and so real and original, both. I hope you had a nice sweater on and some ready hot apple cider or something. Very nice.
I am SO not a winter person, but I love seeing animals play in fresh snow. They are just so innocent and fun! And hockey lovers are in their glory….. Snowing here again today in Jersey–I’m ready to hear that pitchers and catchers are reporting in Florida ( means spring is coming!!) Fun video, thanks for all the images.
Christine, yes horses do lie down quite a lot, and they love to roll in fresh snow. Usually they’ll really roll back and forth but Gabriel’s in his 20s, which is on the elderly side and he was on a hill, so he was being careful.
Mark was clipped this fall, that’s why he’s wearing a blanket. He believes it’s because he’s the most important.
I LOVE MARK! The horses at my brother’s farm love to roll but only in the mud. They will come back to the barn in the evening with dried mud caked every where, their blankets all twisted & covered with mud & kuck. You need the putty knife to get it scrapped off, yuck! Hockey is the best sport ever.
Looks like everybody had fun outside, even the horses. I do like Holly at the very end of the video…”Can I have a blow dryer please? How about a towel?”
Linda, Thanks so much for sharing, I have put the blog in my Fav’s…. When my oldest daughter was in her teens we owned many horses in FLA. so no snow but I do remember how frisky they would get when the temps dipped into the 30/40.
What a beautiful winter wonderland! Horses, hockey, hounds…I love it all…and I loved the music in your video. A lovely escape on this mad, crazy afternoon.
What fun! The horses are so beautiful! the pond hockey reminds me of here- love playing it! Let me know if you and Denis are coming here for the US Pond Hockey Tournament. I live 6 blocks away from where they have it here in Mpls.We usually take our boys to it. Fun stuff! Lots of stinky sweat but fun none the less And yes horses do lie down. I was on a ride last summer in Yellowstone and mine laid down TWICE while I was riding it.I was fine luckily! He was just tired out- they do 7oo rides a week there in the summer. He just gently bent down on his left leg first, then the right and rolled over unto his side.He loved me, but not the trail Lovely video- my boys loved it too. Happy Winter Anne!
Thanks Kristin, we won’t be at the tournament but it sounds great!
My Snoopy once decided to roll in a river while I was riding him. I jumped off and into the river so as not to get crushed. It was FREEZING out, and it was a long ride back to the barn.
I’m sure glad it wasn’t winter at the time, but it was rainy and cold that day- go figure. I had to walk about a 1/4 mile to the end of the trail. Pedro was brought back with another guide For whatever reason I didn’t wear closed-toe shoes. I had Teva’s on. My shoes would’ve been ruined for sure, and I could get off quickly. The trail had pinecones, dirt, sand, and tons of mud. The best part though, was the mountains during the rain while on horseback. It was plush and beautiful.
Oh, great question. I was wondering if anyone would recognize it. It’s from a movie that I’ve blogged about. It’s from a very corny scene that I really love in a rather corny 60s French film. That I also love. I don’t speak French and don’t understand the lyrics, so to me the song just goes, “blah, blah, blah, blah samba, blah, blah, blah blah, blah blah, samba…”
For all I know it’s saying, “Soylent Green is people, let’s all samba! Soylent Green is people, now let’s all samba…..”
Ha ha ha ha — the “Soylent Green” line! That’s hilarious!
My French is really lousy, but now and then I seem to be picking up: “happiness blah blah blah without sadness … let’s all samba to this song … blah blah blah … buy Ovaltine … blah blah blah …”
Ann, can you publish the name of the song that went with the video? I am jealous. I spent the day floating and taping sheetrock, so you are so far ahead of me. Keep videos coming!
Okay, I’m going to go down there with my camera one of these days. They’re pre-fab sheds that are all tricked out with filthy hockey gear photos of the guys and famous hockey players and stuff. The long shed has a wood stove and theyguys warm up in there and get changed.
You guys HAVE to come to the tournament next year. There are a few teams on the rosters from CT.It stinks in the warming house- hundreds of sweaty men, but sweat is sexy right? My hubyy doesn’t play hockey but we still love to go there every year. It’s fun that people from all around the US are there for one outdoor sport that anyone can play
Kristin, sweat is sexy…when you’re having sex. Not so much when it’s saturated hockey equipment for years and the equipment is kept in a bag which is thrown in the back of the car. Really, I think I might be sick thinking about it.
Very funny! I would probably agree. That’s why I’m glad my boys won’t be playing hockey unless it’s at the park for fun. I can handle washing some shorts and a tank for basketball. You should hand Denis some Lysol spray, although I’m sure over 20 years you have tried many things. At least he has that man cave to keep it in.Keeping it in the car he has no excuses.Did your son play hockey?I hope not for your sake, unless he did his own laundry.
Loved the music. I was a French major in college which has nothing to do with my life now but I do like to keep up with Frenchy things. Watching the video made me want to put on a beret and sip a cappucino. And Mark, what a coquette!
Another happy viewer. And winter wonderland is the perfect way to describe it. Snow can be so beautiful, and snow through the eyes of children, animals can be so fun. Our dog Barron likes eating it and right now, it’s still at his mouth height piled up on sides of sidewalks, etc. It’s like an instant snack right outside the house doors!
He does look like a little boy! It reminded me of the Christmas picture of him with the Felix the Cat game. Is it creepy that I know that? Sorry, I just love all things Leary, I guess.
What’s his role in Spiderman? Is he a bad guy? His doppelganger played a villain in one of the batman movies. Now they will confuse them even more.
Oh Ann,
He was so funny! And I love the new sexy haircut, I think he looks 10 years younger with it. Can’t wait for the special, I’m tivo-ing it!
At one point my screen went black for a few seconds. At first I thought it was my tv, but my money is now on the idea that they got too colorful with their language. Do you have the dirt?
And when are we going to see Mrs Leary on the Daily Show? I bet you would be great. I don’t know why people seem so surprised when they find out you’re so funny, did they really think Denis would marry some prissy stick in the mud?
LOVE IT! You can sure tell that Mark is a Mama’s boy!
It’s true, he was breathing down my neck while I was shooting Gabriel and Snoop
Ok- Since I watch and look at all of these videos/photos I need to know the names of your animals. I know Gomer is the BIG dog. Other than that I need help
I figured out Daphne is the doodle.
Of course holly is the cute little one. Where in the world is the St.Bernie/Airdale?? With Denis?

this may sound stupid but do horses lay (lie)down regularly? I don’t thing i’ve ever seen a house laying down..cool video!

All he needs is a rider, Arliss (wink)!
I’ll ride him! Just give me a few hours on a plane!
Oh, drat! I thought you’d shot a video of your dogs and horses playing hockey. In any event, it looks like humans and animals alike had a good time playing outside in the snow and on the ice.
I’m in Sunny Florida, 60 degrees…wish I was in your snow making Snow Angels with the horses!
Fun video… I love Mark’s eyelashes… and he is a ham and loves the attention. Love Holly of course, and Daphne getting snow stuck to her face. Nice video, really and so real and original, both. I hope you had a nice sweater on and some ready hot apple cider or something. Very nice.
Love this, I have never before seem a horse roll in the snow! Gomer ruffing up Holly is so funny, she loves it.
Colleen, I saw, a week or so ago, KC’s horses rolling in the snow. Her blog is terrific. thundermoonfarm.blogspot.com
The video is just wonderful and your property is so beautiful, Ann. Horses and dogs I love. Ice hockey, eh.
Linda, weren’t KC’s horses cute rolling around in all that snow!
I am SO not a winter person, but I love seeing animals play in fresh snow. They are just so innocent and fun! And hockey lovers are in their glory….. Mark may have a point. LOL!
Mark IS the most important..
(those who are not, do not get no blankies.. sorry)
Such a fun day at the Leary’s. I loved the video. Mark’s eye – so beautiful. Fun, fun, fun.
J’adore la musique!
Marks a Mamma’s boy, the video was lovely, the snow looks so pretty.. very peaceful.
Beautiful video. I think the horse was trying to make a snow angel. What a welcome relief from bad news of the day!
Sorry, I forgot to add this to my last comment. Ann, how many acres do you have?
Just under 50
You are so lucky, and I know you know that- which makes it even better.
Looks like everybody had fun outside, even the horses. I do like Holly at the very end of the video…”Can I have a blow dryer please? How about a towel?”
I know, poor little mite. She was exhausted last night.
Linda, Thanks so much for sharing, I have put the blog in my Fav’s…. When my oldest daughter was in her teens we owned many horses in FLA. so no snow but I do remember how frisky they would get when the temps dipped into the 30/40.

By the way, you live in what I would call a paradise of sorts. The summer is just as beautiful as the winter, but winter there is magical.
Thanks for the info. They sure are beautiful horses!
The video is so calming and soothing–the animals and skaters are so graceful.
Ann, what is the song?
Oh, great question. I was wondering if anyone would recognize it. It’s from a movie that I’ve blogged about. It’s from a very corny scene that I really love in a rather corny 60s French film. I could be completely wrong.
Ann, can you publish the name of the song that went with the video? I am jealous. I spent the day floating and taping sheetrock, so you are so far ahead of me. Keep videos coming!
The song is called Samba Saravah by Pierre Barouh and is available on iTunes.
Ann, can I be nosey and ask what the buildings are beside the hockey rink?
Okay, I’m going to go down there with my camera one of these days. They’re pre-fab sheds that are all tricked out with filthy hockey gear photos of the guys and famous hockey players and stuff. The long shed has a wood stove and theyguys warm up in there and get changed.

i used to work for an AHL hockey team and i would almost pass out just walking past the locker room!
I think when my husband wasn’t looking I would change that shed with the wood stove into a sauna. A real authentic Finnish sauna.
Loved the music. I was a French major in college which has nothing to do with my life now but I do like to keep up with Frenchy things. Watching the video made me want to put on a beret and sip a cappucino. And Mark, what a coquette!
Fab video Ann! A winter wonderland. And I love the closing shot of Holly.

That just looks like a wonderful day!
Ann, quick question. Have we nailed down “Dracula” as our next book? Just need confirmation before I trigger my Kindle.
Yes, I’ll post a blog about it tomorrow. Dracula!!!!
Yay!
Denis is on The Daily Show tonight for those of you who can stay awake.
DVR!!!
His haircut is cute. Why do men always look like little boys with short hair. It’s for his role in the new Spiderman movie.
He does look like a little boy! It reminded me of the Christmas picture of him with the Felix the Cat game. Is it creepy that I know that? Sorry, I just love all things Leary, I guess.
