Fabulous, Mark can expect a call from “Dancing With The Stars” any day now! I just loved that, even hubby came in and watched that and gave some chuckles.
Ann,
I am delighted to see that I can skip Riverdance this year. That’s so cool that Mark can dance in time with you. You might have Cirque du Soleil in your future too–keep your options open.
As I was watching this wonderful clip, I thought to myself: I would give that adorable horse a big kiss. Then at the end, you did! Warmed my heart. Thank you, and give him another one for me.
yes, he is! and the trainer, too! on the other hand, you know Michaelangelo said he just released the figures from the stone – they were in there all along? maybe you released Mark’s inner Michael Flatley.
Wow, that really is amazing. Mark was blessed with moves a la Gregory Hines & Baryshnikov; I got the leftover Jerry Lewis & Three Stooges kind of “grace.” Where’s the justice in this world? lol
This is amazing!
How long did it take you to get him to do it? He is so smart. And such a love.
Mark is a STAR! You may need to get him an agent.
I just love this horse – he is special!
Thanks Linda and everybody for the comments. I’ve been trying to teach him the “Spanish Walk”, which is a sort of silly classical dressage movement. So I first taught him to lift one foot and then after he did that I taught him to alternate feet. Before I got the camera out yesterday I was riding him and trying to get him to do the big step while moving forward, like the Spanish walk. He didn’t really get it. I’m only working on it when I’m bareback because I don’t want him to get in the habit of pawing when I’m riding him under tack. Initially, I used a dressage whip to touch the foot I wanted him to lift and then rewarded with a treat. Then I got him to follow (some of the time) my movement while I was on the ground. He was more conscious of the way I was shifting my balance towards him and away from him than what I was doing with my legs. Also, by the time I started taping he was pretty unmotivated. I usually treat with sugar, but because I needed to give him so many treats, I was giving him bits of grain, and he’d already had his supper. He was sort of indulging me.
He really is special. He loves attention and so that makes him really fun to work with. He has a great sense of humor, he’s a total character and we just get along really well.
I love him.
I love the shadows of your rhythm against the sun and the dirt kicking up – it was dreamy and leisurely – what a great guy Mark is – like the guy you took to the prom just because he asked and then you find out what a great sport and gentleman he is because he tolerates your quirkiness. I would have planted a big kiss on his nose too!
First, what Denis said is very funny. Duh! And second, that Mark is one super guy. Just about perfect, I’d say. And third, I want your legs, Ann. They are the legs I have dreamed I would have some day. Not gonna happen. I accept it.
We are fortunate to have Allen Pogue “Imagine A Horse” in our area, actually going to see him this weekend at a clinic for the Andalusian horse. His work is wonderful, fun and builds confidence in horses of all ages and size. Check out his site at http://www.imagineahorse.com/
Oh Gina, I just LOVE that movie too!! I must have seen it 10 times. I can really relate. Actually, I relate to Ed Burns in general. You know, the whole Irish Catholic thing. And damn, he is handsome too. And such a romantic, it’s hard to believe some of the stuff he writes actually comes from a guy.
Started my day with a smile!

Annie, I agree—either DWTS or Riverdance!

This is too sweet. I cannot get over how Mark is trying to match your every move! He loves you so.
In my next life, I want your thin legs Ann.

I sent a link to this video to Denis. First he emailed back “What?”
I replied, “Couldn’t you open the link?”
Denis: “How’d you learn he could do that?”
He actually thought that this was something Mark always knew and that once I turned on some Irish music, he just started dancing.
IT TOOK minutes of TRAINING!!!!
And lots of treats.
And it helps that the horse is a genius

As good old Lawrence Welk would say, “Ah, wunnerful, wunnerful, wunnerful”.
I LOVE MARK! He certainly has rhythm. Michael Flatley better watch out. Reminds me of Denis’s funny sketch Lord of the Dance.
Oh, gosh, he is just adorable! And amazing!!! Bravo, you two!

If you ever want to run away and join the circus he looks to be the perfect partner.
I smiled all the way through….loved the music too! You do keep your life interesting….and lots of fun for us!!

Thanks for making me laugh our loud!
Thanks for sharing! The music reminded me so much of Ed Burns and his first movie the Brothers McMullen. I have a lot of great memories of that movie.
