Judging a Book By Its Cover

Although my new novel The Good House won’t be published until next year, my editor has asked me to start thinking about what kind of cover I would like for the book. Publishers like to find a cover early so that it will appear in their catalog that goes out to book distributors each quarter.   The publisher usually reserves the right to have the final say on the book jacket design, but of course they want the author to be happy with it and because the author knows the book so well, they are often very good at conceptualizing a design.

What’s New With You?

It’s open-mike day here on the blog. Today, let’s hear about you.

In a recent comment, Jodi reminded me that we did this before and there many interesting comments.  I just read through them and it’s like reading an old diary. I know, from your comments, that so much has happened in your lives since that post and I’m looking forward to hearing updates.  There are always far more lurkers than commenters on any online forum, so if you don’t usually comment but feel like chiming in we will give you lots of “welcomes” and virtual handshakes and thumps on the back, but no {{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}. Promise.

Spidey

Denis is in The Amazing Spiderman movie that will be released this summer in 3D.  Check out the AMAZING trailer:

I don’t know anything about football.  I don’t know the rules, don’t understand what all the tackling and yard lines are about. I know what a touchdown is but that’s about it. I honestly have no idea what a quarterback does.  But I would  like to go to a Super Bowl party, because I like parties. Denis refuses to go to a Super Bowl party because he likes football.

“Everybody wants to talk at Super Bowl parties,” Denis gripes, whenever I show him an invitation.  ”How are you supposed to watch the game?”
