New Favorite Book Trailer

The other day, my editor encouraged me to look at some good book trailers to get an idea of something I might like for my novel. Apparently Brenda didn’t know that I’m an experienced book trailer director. Yes, that’s right. I directed the two critically ignored Julie Klam You Had Me at Woof trailers.

Here’s the first, my directorial debut, if you will.

This is my second video film.

Apparently, book publishers prefer videos that aren’t shot on a Flipcam. And would also prefer that the cameraman/director not snort with laughter throughout. So I’m looking at videos for inspiration for my own book trailer and this morning I came across this, which is not only my new favorite book trailer, but my new favorite Youtube video. Enjoy:

Now I just need a songwriter for The Good House music video.

Oh wow, that was great! My favorite line: “That guy Tolstoy needs to get the eff over himself.” Classic.

you need to direct more stuff. Nicely done. Ever consider tackling a short film or something?

  3. I forgot how funny your book trailers were!!! Thanks for re-posting them as well as your new fave. I miss you blogging on a regular basis – but know you are busy too. You just bring so much fun into everyday life!!!!

    Have a great day!
    You just made mine!!!!!

  4. I find myself rather speechless after watching the trailer for “Tasteful Nudes”. One question: will DL be the one in a yellow speedo for your trailer? Just wondering……

  5. I was just creeping around in Pinterest, looks rather fun to me, but I don’t have an account.

GOING TOTALLY OFF THE SUBJECT…. I’m watching the NY Ranger game and I keep hearing a voice that sounds familiar during the commercials. It’s during the Ford truck commercials…it’s Denis’s voice. My daughter recognized it right away! :)

  7. Ann, this is off topic, but tell Denis the hubby and I enjoyed his Fenway piece on CBS Morning Show.

  8. Oh My Effing Speedo! That book trailer’s credits look as if they’d read – Lyrics by the writing team of Christopher Moore & Douglas Adams, David Sedaris & Laurie Notaro; Direction by Mel Brooks, the Farrelly brothers & the Coen brothers; In conjunction with the musical stylings of Jimmy Fallon.

Your book trailer could probably do without the slow-motion close-up of a bouncing horse schlong, though :-) (2:00-2:02)

Thanks for sharing, this made my day ~
