Ann,
I don’t believe in coincidence, so the fact I saw this interview this morning is astounding! I almost NEVER watch morning shows. I can’t wait to buy your book. I absolutely identify with what you are putting out there. My struggle with drinking alone (“only wine,” I’ve told myself a thousand times) is ten years on. I’m just curious…how did you stop? Cold turkey?
Thanks again for your honest and humorous handling of such a touchy subject. Congratulations on your success on two accounts!
Great little piece. I just finished “The Good House” last week. Absolutely loved it! I had previously read your first book and am now going to buy book #2. Thank you for keeping me reading! Can’t wait for the next one. Still hoping for a book signing in Santa Barbara!
Just watched your segment and you were fabulous! So happy for you and all the success you are having with The Good House. You deserve it! I’m happy yo have been in the Chicago audience when they filmed the bookstore scenes.
Great interview – loved the old pics that they showed at the end (and of course the footage of the dogs!).
But really, the editing.
Obviously the powers that be at CBS failed to recognize that the real star of the piece was quickly shown in the audience about forty seconds into the piece. The phone has been ringing off the hook all day with various offers.

Loved how the CBS morning crew were talking about you, Denis, your book and your life. They were all so envious! And Charlie Rose was so smitten with you! Best put Gomer on guard.
Love the early pictures of you shown at the end of the segment. In first photo (with you and Denis sitting) you reminded me of Princess Diana, when she was still Lady Di and just starting to date Prince Charles. The hair, the tilt of your head and the expression on your face, to me, looks like Shy Di.
And there must be something wrong with me! I think I am the only person who doesn’t think that you and Denis look alike. Jack looks just like his dad and Devin looks exactly like you; but I don’t see you and Denis looking alike.
Snow day here…..great time to start reading a new book I just got and heard rave reviews about!!!
I’m glad you posted it too!! We often can’t view these things from the UK, which is daft! This was a good piece and we got to hear about the book and the main character, hooray! Still waiting for news on the UK & Eire tour Ya gotta be bringing this gem to the clan right? P.S. Had to giggle at the opening clip with the hair flick x 1, 2, & 3 get outa my ‘*$%@# face, hair!!’ on your face. We loves ya x
It’s funny how it goes with women; that many of them drink (or get drunk) in solitude; when men carry on and get drunk whenever (& often times, wherever) they please. Somehow, it is still more socially acceptable for a guy to get pie-eyed than a woman. Not saying everybody should be running around getting hammered all the time. But, sadly, I feel that there is more shame attached to a woman drinking too much, than a man; hence the secrecy.
What a great segment on CBS. You both seem so warm and regular and lots of fun. The interview about your book was great and the pictures of your farm were beautiful.
Ann, as usual you were terrific on Morning Joe! One of my friends called to remind me to watch the interview (as if I needed a reminder) and was planning on buying the book today. This is one book I refuse to share! So happy for your continued success……you deserve it. By the way, there is a clamoring crowd here in New Orleans wanting you to come do a reading/book signing.
Hello, Just saw in the paper you are in Princeton speaking right now, so sorry to have missed it ! I just finished your book over Easter and loved it. Let me know next time you are (speaking) in the Princeton area, would love to meet you.

Nice interview, and you and Denis are so cute together.
Great clip, thank you for posting.
Wow! Great piece! Your getting good at this publicity thing–really good job
Is it true that you are working on a novel about animals? If so, it already has success written all over it, I tell you

I enjoyed this piece sooo much! And I’ve already reread “The Good House”! Once again Ann, thanks for a terrific read!

Terrific interview and WONDERFUL BOOK! Congratulations, Ann.
Kudos to you for your bravery in openly discussing your struggles with alcohol.
And – you and Denis do look alike.

Hi ann. I haven’t posted in quite some time but congrats on the very nice review in the New York Times as well as the morning show segment.
