I was walking up to the barn this evening and it was dusk. Everything was very still, it had been such a hot day here and now it was incredibly quiet. No dogs barking in the distance or yipping of coyotes or rustling of wind or anything. A storm was coming, you could tell. Then, at the top of our hill I stepped into this shaft of light and looked up and saw that it wasn't as late as I thought. The sun was still sort of high and burning through these storm clouds and it was incredible.
Then the wind started and distant thunder. What a sky.
It's pouring now. I love a summer storm.

Those are beautiful shots. I love to take shots of sunrises/sunsets and stormy skies.
You can shoot 50 shots in a couple of minutes and the changes are so dramatic, from one to the next.
I can almost smell the rain....

Me too! I LOVE a summer storm. Obviously, we got the same you did and I just watched it from the window with my little boy in my lap. He was fascinated.
Such an amazing photo!

It was an incredible evening and you captured it in words and photos. You have a beautiful and tenderly poetic awareness of life, which, like that sky and the late evening sun, breaks through the clouds and shines down on us all. Thank you for sharing, and reminding me of the wonders, beauty and power that is all around, in nature, family, and friends.

Hi Ann,
I have seen a lot of clouds and sunsets etc. over the years but that second photo is stunning. The first is great, to. It looks like a painting! Very nice photo and I am so used to seeing storms coming over water it was great to see it coming over the hills....
Cheers!

Hey Ann: We were driving back from Bridgeport last night and saw those clouds. Okay, maybe we didn't see THOSE clouds, but we were stunned by the size and the definition of the clouds we saw. Thank you for capturing your clouds so beautifully. Your posts continue to be the highlight of my day. Keep that camera nearby and keep those fingers typing.
