I've been laid up a little. Brought an infection home from the hospital with me that had me feverish and slightly insane and now it has cleared and I feel so much better. Feel that I've neglected blog but have nothing to blog about. Devin borrowed my camera yesterday to take some photos and I asked if I can use one. I chose this:
I believe this leaf was on our porch. When it dried and shriveled it left its image behind. I've been reading poems, because my attention span is so short, but the leaf reminded me of a Neruda poem called "Here I Love You."
Here is part of the poem - the last part:
HERE I LOVE YOU
Pablo Neruda
Here I love you and the horizon hides you in vain.
I love you still among these cold things.
Sometimes my kisses go on those heavy vessels
that cross the sea towards no arrival.
I see myself forgotton like those old anchors.
The piers sadden when the afternoon moors there.
My life grows tired, hungry to no purpose.
I love what I do not have. You are so far.
My loathing wrestles with the slow twilights.
But night comes and starts to sing to me.
The moon turns its clockwork dream.
The biggest stars look at me with your eyes.
And as I love you, the pines in the wind
want to sing your name with their leaves of wire.

Hi Ann,
So glad to hear you are finally feeling better, and on the mend! Just take it easy and try not to do too much at first. That tends to be the problem when one goes home from the hospital - as there is always something to do!
The photo is so unique, and the poem fits it
beautifully. Devin seems to have your eye for photos!
Rest well.....

What a beautifully haunting poem.
I've been reading a lot of poetry lately, as well. I loved to pretend it was because I was erudite & literary...but, no! You hit the nail on the head with the short attention span. I feel like I've been 'outed'. :)
So glad you're feeling better!

Ann, What a great picture - fall is my favorite season. Hopefully you are resting, enjoying the changing colors of the season and knowing we are all sending good thoughts and well wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hi Ann,
I was also wondering if you were okay because your blog was quiet for a couple of days. Glad to hear you are feeling better from the infection.
LOVE this picture of the leaf. It's beautiful and haunting. I can also see it as a symbol of life. We start out fresh and vibrant and as time goes on, we start to "shrivel" up. ;) But our true self/soul is still in the same shape and space as when we started out. Hope that makes sense...;)
The poem is wonderful.
Take it easy and continue to recover!

Ann, I found this quote which I thought was appropriate,
"Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower."
- Albert Camus

Hi Ann,
Glad to hear you are doing better. Just remember to make "relaxing" your first priority!
What a great picture. I love fall! The only downside to fall is that winter follows...
