July 31, 2010 | 9:53 amLet’s read Edith Wharton’s THE CUSTOM OF THE COUNTRY. It’s one of my favorite books and I’m dying to reread it.
This book is delightful, you’ll love to hate the main character and you won’t be able to put it down. Shall we discuss September 9th?

my heart skipped a beat when I caught this commercial out of the corner of my eye last night, so unusual. what a great concept. are they changing the theme music for the show, or just using a different song for the promos? because if I’d heard the fabulous DUN-de-den-den notes, my head would have spun around much faster! ; )
Big, big snow coming tonight to our pocket on Long Island (Port Jefferson area) – 10-15 inches. Haven’t seen this since the 90’s!!!!!!!!!!! Holy White Stuff!!!!! Don’t know why – you would think I should be done with it but I get SO excited about it.
Great video!!! I’m going to the Borgata too!!! I’ll be looking for you, Ann!!!
Can’t wait for the new season. My girlfriends and I will be at the Mohegan comedy show. I keep checking for the good seats to open up, as they often do for concerts and shows at the last minute. We are so excited!! Going to be a great girls night. Comedy, gambling and booze. Can’t get better than that.
Hey that’s Ann Leary’s husband =) Thanks for the post,, great promo, great show can’t wait!!!
Thanks for posting the promo….going to the Comedy tour in philly..just got my tickets…..
Looking forward to it
Great promo!!!! Thanks for posting it! I saw one the other night that made me laugh. “You’re Margot Kidder, hiding in the bushes crazy” lol!
Looking forward to season 5!
Not sure what happened to last comment but I’ll try again. Thanks for the link kim and jane and can’t wait for the new season. My sons have all the previous seasons so we will wait a bit longer but well worth it.Wish the tour was coming to T.O. but if there is a cd we will be sure to buy it,we have the others even enjoyed the roast funny stuff and I agree Denis has worked hard and I also hope he’s enjoying keep smileing cheryl
Thanks for posting the promo. Franco watching the girls workout and clumsy Probie falling down hehe! I’ve watched all the episodes so far, I don’t get FX in Canada, we watch it on Showtime and they have no info on it right now. It’s usually a few months behind. I love the music too, have downloaded some good songs from it.
Cool, can’t wait for the new series. Thanks for posting.
: )
Yes thanks kim and jane, and I heard that MJF is to join the show for awhile,I appologise if I am wrong on this but as a fellow canadian Kim you must want to see this as I do.And I personaly like to purchase the season when it comes out need it all at once kind of thing any whoot have all now so looking forward to new one.Now if that tour could come to T.O.and bring his beautiful and talented(and just as funny)wife with it I am sure it would sell out. Thanks again and I agree this site has given my whole family the leary fix.when i pick up the lap top every morning after work my sns all want to know. What the learys are up too lol keep smileing cheryl
Love this promo and so excited for it to come back!
That’s nice, Ann. But this video got me sad, because I can’t watch Rescue Me. I feel like I was living on another planet!!! As I told you once, here in Italy Rescue Me was broadcast during the night about 3 am, last December and January. Only some people were so lucky to discover it (and I was one of them). The first, the second and the third season have been broadcast till the 2nd February. I lost the entirely third season because I was tired during the night, after some weeks being late to wait for it. I didn’t record it because I had problem with the recorder. Lots of Rescue Me fans (me too) have protested to the TV channel asking to see it at least during the evening. Even if it’s not for children, they could broadcast it from 10 pm to midnight! There are so many trash series on TV during the day and Rescue Me is really nice and deserves to be watched, so they should replace trash programs with it. As a result they interrupted the broadcast and not even broadcast the fourth season. Buy even if I didn’t watch each episode I know what happened because I read summaries on American sites. I really can’t understand why they didn’t give importance to that. Each person who watched it is really enthusiastic about the program!
I know, I could buy DVD on Amazon, but I don’t know if I understand everything. One thing is to read and write and another thing is listen and understand spoken American and slang idioms on TV! Maybe I’ll buy them, maybe I will understand! Dunno… It would be nicer to listen to the original voices.
I agree with Alan: “They must be giants indeed!” Denis, Peter, and the rest of the writers and production crew have created what is, in my opinion, the best show ever broadcast on television. Intelligent, emotional, hysterically funny–and often all three emotions fight for control of your head and heart at the same time. I have never experienced a TV show which made me laugh out loud, then sob uncontrollably within the space of seconds.
And this promo ad is unique and startling. Two qualities we fans have come to expect from “Rescue Me”. I have not yet seen it on televion, and am anxiously awaiting my first viewing on the high-def screen.
This show is a treasure. Thanks for posting the promo video, Ann. I’m happy to have finally seen it. Thirty-nine days and counting….
Every fan I know has gone through some serious withdrawal pains! Finally we get our FX fix! This is the absolute best show on TV. It is a crime they have not been recognized as such.
Did I hear that they have already been picked up for Season 6?
It is through RM, that so many of us have found you -that is the icing on the cake!
Tell Denis congratulations on another great season…..his hard work has paid off!
Great Stuff !! And I’m with Lisa; I’ll be at Borgata too…should be a fun time. Love staying there—the pool and spa are soooo relaxing, it’s like a weekend vacation. And,of course, I can’t wait to see the show. Both–Rescue Me and the Tour; lots to look forward to.
Hey Lisa,
That’s awesome you got tickets to the Rescue Me Comedy Tour! I know the tour hits Chicago on 4/11, which would be closer to me, but Ticketmaster is all sold out. I bet you’re thrilled to be going! Yeah, wouldn’t that be great if Ann (hint, hint) showed up too? Anyways counting down the days until season 5!
Now if only my book order for Ann’s two books and Denis’ book would just get here…nothing like a great read during the cold winter nights.
ooh i am going to have to watch season 3 on dvd to get ready!!
Love it! I recall first seeing this technique of larger-than-life people moving through/interacting with the larger-than-life urban landscape in the 1994 Rolling Stones’ video for “Love Is Strong.” Some 15 years later, it’s still quite the jaw-dropping visual effect. They must be giants, indeed!
Sweeeet!! Thanks for posting the link – can’t wait for the new season. Jane, I found Ann’s blog through Rescue Me, too, and it’s been great to have a “Leary fix” while the show’s been on hiatus. Got tickets for the Rescue Me Comedy Tour, too… and Ann, I think you should join Denis down at the Borgata!
