one of my favorites. I think it has to do with the time in my life that I first saw it. the men were exciting and she was georgeous in that French way. thanks for reminding me.
jr t’en pris ann, tout le plaisir est pour moi………..not at all ann, the pleasure is all mine.
xxelise
am starting to call insurance companies , not that easy to get clear answers, no matter i will try.
Elise, thanks for the translation!
This was the original trailer from the movie “A Man and a Woman,” which really wasn’t about blowing up cars but it was a VERY low budget film and I thing the director wanted to get a lot of mileage out of those expensive stunts, plus thought the action would attract the men, maybe. My parents had this album when I was little and played it quite a lot as I recall and I love the movie because of the sexy stars but it’s also a little nostalgic for me.
nos coeurs y croient ( voient?)………our hearts belive it (or see it, can’t quite hear)
comme une chance………………………..like chance
comme un espoir…………………………..like hope
encore une fois tout recommence……..once again all starts again
la vie repart………………………………….life starts again
combien de joies………………………….how many joys
combien de drames………………………how many dramas (sad story)
et voila ,c’est une longue histoire…….and there it is , a long story
un homme et une femme ont forge la trame du hazard……a man and a woman have set the grid of chance/happenstance.
nos coeurs en joie…………………….our hearts filled with joy
on fait le choix……………………….we choose
d’ une romance……………………….a romance
qui passait la………………………….that was passing by
chance pour toi et moi……………..lucky for me, lucky for you.
very lously translated, english my second language and i am not a translator, but that is more or less the meaning of the words without poetic license.
voila mesdames les paroles d’ un homme et une femme
music by francis lai and u can download on itunes……i have it on my computer and it is part of the playlist i usually put on when having a nice dinner………..i even made my husband dance with me on it!
bisoux a tous,
elise
and rose the badadada etc was probably just to made rythme with the music, i think.
it was a style in those days, michel legrand was also big on these.
i am french canadian and there is no such language as “french -canadian” but as in the usa, england, irland, australia ,scotland etc each area and sub area has a special accent and patois and local expressions but it’s all english.
belgian french, swiss french, provence french is also all french but sound different.
the french in montreal (and it varies from neiborghood to neiborghood, schools ,levels of education etc) is very different from the french in new-brunswick
the south, texas, mass etc all have their very special regional “dialect”……some may like to think of them as different languages but that is an other story!
kisses to all and what a beautiful choice ann.
A Man and a Woman – one of my favorite movies. Anouk Aimee – one of the most beautiful women ever. The theme song – enchanting. Today is my birthday, Ann, and you started it off just fine. Actually it didn’t start off just fine. I got some sad family news. After I visited your blog I felt much better. Thank you.
Ok, I can translate A Man and a Woman from the title, but I forget what tout means. I know that coeurs is hearts. Anyway, so that’s where that song is from! I recognize it, never knew what it was from.
From watching the trailer, it looks like it’s about racing cars, making out, and blowing up the ground. Does that sum it up? lolol Other than that I don’t have a clue.
Wait, what was Denis doing home on a weeknight? Or is this an old post from when the blog was broken? Congrats on the blog being fixed by the way. Yeah!
And what does Denis think of this movie?
I can’t see the video, but it doesn’t matter. This is one of my All Time Favorites. Anouk Aimee! Jean-Louis Trintignant! And that music!! We have a favorite French restaurant in our ‘hood with an ancient and adorable piano player. He knows this is my favorite and always plays it for me, like a theme song, when we go there.
Let’s see…A Man And A Woman
Don’t have a clue about the first line…(sorry Sr. Jacqueline)
Something about hearts. Well that’s about it. I tried.
The ba da da da must be Canadian French, I don’t recall the Nun’s making us conjugate that particular verb. LOL.
Now I’m the one being corney…going to bed Night All
don’t know WHAT you are talking about, but I LOVE! your french…
