I found this great video of a Momix show on YouTube. I remember Moses told me once that he doesn’t like seeing Momix on YouTube because the quality is usually so poor, but I thought this was quite nice, so I hope he doesn’t mind if I post it.
Denis and I went to see Momix Remix last night which was a debut ensemble performance at the Warner Theater in Connecticut, celebrating Momix’s 30 years as a dance company. Moses Pendleton and Cynthia Quinn had their daughter Quinn fly all the way in from Europe where she dances with Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, in order to do a solo piece to start out the wonderful show. It was beautiful. Cynthia, Quinn’s mother did two solos herself and from where I sat she looked like a 19 year old. She is a woman of such beauty and grace. Why didn’t my parents make me take ballet?
Alan was there and so was Christine and her family, who posed for a picture with us after the show. What a lovely family, two of the most friendly and polite children I have met in a long time. Well, it was a great night.

So cool! The mind is the choreographer of one’s movement. His influence on the minds of those bodies is magnificent. I’m sure they enjoyed the performance.
Ann – thanks so much for posting the MOMIX video. Stunningly beautiful. I’m so sorry they don’t make tour stops across the border to Toronto. Dare I hope?
How lucky is that for Christine and her family? A chance to meet Ann & Dennis AND have a group photo opp.
Ann gets all the credit for the photo! Not only did she agree to be in it, she also asked her husband to join us. To us adults he might be Denis Leary from Rescue Me but to my children he is the voice of Diego from Ice Age and the detective from the Thomas Crowne Affair. (I just love that movie and my children have seen parts of it.) Ann was thoughtful enough to have someone take the photo so that we could all be in it. Otherwise it could have gotten ugly. LOL
Thank you for all the wonderful compliments! My family has taken a sudden interest in all the blog comments.
I’m just bored – waiting for Joe to stop screwing around with the DVD player.
Christine – what a lovely photo and a great looking family. I bet it was great night. Sounds like those beautiful kids had a ball.
I just got an awful thought. Do you think eventually Ann will meet all of us and she will have all these photos of us plastered on her wall like the Overlook Hotel in The Shining? And then…..anyone whose on the blog gets sucked into the photos…..and then PRESTO – their on the wall whether they like it or not. Wow.
very very cool. Nice family other Christine! How lucky that you got to go to the performance!
Loved the video, MP certanly has a way with the light. His show is amazing, as well as his photographs. It is a gift to capture the light the way he does. Christine, your family is lovely.
Ann, thanks for posting the link to the Momix video. Fabulous choreography. Moses is so talented.
Christine, your family is lovely!
It looks like….
I need to learn to preview/proofread.
Courtney you are in such luck. It look like Momix is going to be at Cal Poly (San Luis-13th) this week, 2 nites San Diego(16th) this weekend and Palm Desert (18th) after that. Never to appear in the Northwest. Our fate i guess. The Pacific Northwest does like culture and beauty, really we do. You just have to past our curtain of rain.
would LOVE to see momix!
christine – so great that you and your family were able to go.
alan – i had a countdown going to see how long it would take you to post a picture clarification!!
Momix looks amazing. I hope they come out to Los Angeles at some point. It would be wonderful to see this in person.
Christine, love the pic of all of you.
(that deserved a happy face!)
Momix: Wow. Just. Wow!
Christine and fam: Sweet. Incredibly sweet.
Glad to hear it was another successful evening for all.
Alan, I’m sorry, I assumed it went without saying that it was Christine’s husband in the picture, not you, since we’ve all seen you before. lolol Sorry for any potential confusion.
Not having seen a Momix show, but watching the clip, I too thought of Cirque du Soleil, as I’ve seen 7 of their shows. The good ones, not the crappy ones they’ve come out with in the last couple years. It was the only thing I could think of that is most similar to it, with the music and incredible artistry.
Wow—-beautiful!
Ann and Christine-How nice that you guys met!(Lovely family, Christine!)
Incredible! It was a spectacular show. We went yesterday (Sunday) and the theater was packed, and wonderfully so with lots of children. Moses’s inventiveness in choreography and scene is awe inspiring and so beautiful, graceful, thought provoking. At one point I was moved to tears!
Thank you Ann for pointing this out and inspiring us to go! So amazing. A don’t miss! (and for all of you across the country, they are now on tour, starting in all the warm states of the south west (smart, smart, smart!) and then finishing with a month at the Joyce Theater in Manhattan, from beginning of May through the beginning of June) I am definitely going again!
Oooh, I hope Momix comes to a theater close to me, that looks like a fantastic show!
stunning… just stunning!
It was a great night. The show was fantastic and we all loved it, especially my children. The two hours just flew by and we never saw anything as unique as this show. Ann, thank you for posting the photo. My children are beaming and the compliment you gave them was so nice. Adam could not stop smiling and Megan was just as thrilled.
Alan I’m sorry I did not see you there. I did look for you. It would have been nice to have you in the photo as well.
Ann you are as bad as I am up at this unreasonably early hour
That is amazing

Sorry, I posted that under Alan’s name by mistake. I had Alan on the brain.
Alan, thanks for clearing up who’s who. I did think that was you in the photo on the right. But I assumed you and Christine weren’t married with two kids.
Before Tracy’s well-intentioned comment causes any unnecessary confusion, allow me to point out that the people in the photo accompanying Ann’s blog entry are (from left to right) Mrs. Leary, Mr. Leary, Christine’s two kids, Christine, and (I presume) Christine’s husband (who, I also presume, is the father of Christine’s kids). Everyone clear on that?
As for the evening’s performance itself, all I can say is WOW! Everything was simply breathtaking: the choreography, the lighting, the music, the grace and athleticism of the dancers. Some pieces were light-hearted and humorous, while others were darker and haunting. Inventiveness and positive energy abounded.
In my time, I’ve been fortunate enough to see wondrous performances by Pilobolus (which Moses Pendleton helped to found), Blue Man Group (”How to be a Rock Star”), and Cirque du Soleil (”Delirium”). Last night’s MOMIX performance ranks right up there with them.
If MOMIX is performing anywhere near you, don’t miss the opportunity to see them. Your psyche will thank you.
Can somebody put the link on if you can get to the video? I’m using my laptop computer as well as Linda. Don’t think that should have anything to do with it.
The video is absolutely mesmerizing. Beautiful. I can only imagine how beautiful the show was. Christine and Alan, how nice for you to be able to go, and what a wonderful picture. Your kids are beautiful.
I’m able to see it just fine on mine, sorry some of you are missing it. Beautiful! An imaginative, wonderful celebration of forms and movements in nature. How much fun the show must have been. Thanks so much for sharing this video.
Linda, I only see a blank screen also. I was interested in seeing this as I had thought to go last night, but something came up that I couldn’t. Would love to see some clips of it.
Ann –
On my computer screen, where you say you are posting the youtube video, it’s blank. Did anyone else have a problem, or is just me again? This is so frustrating because I’m using my brand spanking new laptop.
So, I went to youtube and was able to view a clip from the Momix/Remix show in June of 2009. Just amazing – beautiful dancing and incredibly creative choreography. I love innovative works like this I’m checking to see when/if they will be in the Bay Area.
Great photo of Christine and her beautiful family. How nice that you were all able to meet up.
Wow. Just. Wow.
Unbelievably beautiful and breathless. The fluidity is amazing.
Wow. And you got to spend the evening with this. This man’s vision of dance is unbelievable. This kind of creativity makes me very emotional. Beautiful.
