Book Signing, Traffic, West Side Street Smarts

If you’re not doing anything this Friday, July 31st, why not come to the fundraiser at the Hotchkiss Library in Sharon, CT, where I will be signing books?

It won’t be just me (and I won’t be making this face, promise), many of your favorite authors will be there including Frank Delaney, Michael Korda, playwright David Rabe and Francine Du Plessix Grey. It starts at 6:00, the admission is $25.00 and that includes an open bar! And it’s for a great cause – a library!

Dancers, A Play, A Great Read

I just received these wonderful photos from the Momix show Botanica. I blogged the other day about the show but didn’t have nice photos to share. Now I do!

Ahhhhh, thank you Moses, this blog needed some beauty.

Last night we went to see the play God Of Carnage, starring James Gandolfini, Hope Davis, Marcia Gay Harden and Jeff Daniels. It was so great. I laughed until I cried, seriously, but I’m one of those people who can’t really laugh without crying. If you’re in the NYC area and looking for a good show, go! We went backstage to visit with Mr. Gandolfini after the show. Such a sweet guy. I loved him in this show.

Botanica

There was a wonderful feature on Momix’s new show Botanica in the New York Times last week. You can read it here.
These are some images I stole from the NYT’s website. We’re seeing the show this weekend. Can’t wait. I need beauty, now. Feeling a little overwhelmed.

Discerning Critics

The other night I went to see A.R. Gurney’s Off-Broadway play, “Buffalo Gal,” which is a wonderful show about the staging of a production of Anton Checkov’s “The Cherry Orchard.” Well, it’s about much more than that, but as I watched the play I realized, with some degree of shame, that I have never actually read or seen, “The Cherry Orchard”, and, as I am planning to interview Mr. Gurney for my radio show, IN HOUSE, I decided I would order a copy of the play from Amazon. I went to the Amazon page and out of curiosity, I scrolled down to the customer reviews.

The Country Girl

The night before last I saw a dress rehearsal for The Country Girl, which is certain to be Broadway’s biggest hit this season. It’s directed by Mike Nichols and stars Peter Gallagher, Morgan Freeman and Frances McDormand. The Country Girl is about the wife of an actor and I watched the rehearsal with the wife of one of the actors – my dear friend Paula Harwood Gallagher. Paula has agreed to do a Q&A with me for an upcoming blog in which we will discuss the actor’s wife life.
